II. Phân tích dạng câu hỏi
1. Part 1 is highly cyclical, not random
Dữ liệu cho thấy Part 1 không hề “ra tự do” như nhiều học viên thường nghĩ. Các nhóm câu hỏi lặp lại với mật độ rõ rệt gồm Work/Study, Hometown, Accommodation, Films/Movies, Art, Rules, Museums, Technology, Borrowing/Lending, Gifts, Public places, Childhood, Food. Điều này có nghĩa là học viên không nên học Part 1 theo kiểu câu nào biết câu đó; các em cần chuẩn bị theo topic clusters, với câu trả lời ngắn, tự nhiên, có mở rộng vừa đủ và tránh học thuộc máy móc.
2. Part 2 topics revolve around familiar life domains, but the scoring challenge lies in structure
Các cue cards trong giai đoạn này tập trung vào các miền rất quen thuộc: people, places, films, books, stories, talents, travel, rules, shopping, family pride, long walk, useful book, discussion, memory, problem-solving, social media, sportsperson. Nội dung không quá chuyên môn; khó khăn thật sự nằm ở việc organize a 2-minute response with clarity and development.
3. Part 3 consistently tests abstract thinking, comparison, and social reasoning
Part 3 trong bộ đề này có độ ổn định rất cao về bản chất. Dù chủ đề khởi đầu khác nhau, câu hỏi mở rộng thường đi theo các hướng: comparison between past and present, individual versus society, children versus adults, benefits and drawbacks, role of technology, role of government, education, social values, future change. Đây là phần mà rất nhiều học viên band 6.0 bị chững vì các em chỉ trả lời trực giác, chưa biết triển khai ý theo logic.
III. Phân tích chủ đề
1. Films, stories, media, and entertainment
Nhóm này xuất hiện rất nhiều: movies enjoyed, disappointing movies, films you watched recently, traditional stories, TV or online program, social media content. Điều này cho thấy học viên cần một hệ lexical set khá chắc về plot, character, message, performance, soundtrack, visual effects, genre, emotional response, realism, influence on audiences. Đồng thời, các em cần luyện cách chuyển từ Part 2 cá nhân sang Part 3 học thuật, ví dụ từ “I enjoyed the film because…” sang “Films remain influential because…”.
2. Education, talent, children, and development
Natural talent, creative person, drawing child, lesson you remember, self-learning, patience, encouragement, school rules, children learning languages. Đây là cluster rất mạnh. Học viên cần có tư duy ngôn ngữ cho các ý như innate ability versus training, parental pressure, holistic development, creativity, discipline, confidence-building, educational inequality, practical learning. Những chủ đề này đặc biệt phù hợp để luyện vì chúng vừa gần gũi với đời sống Việt Nam vừa dễ mở rộng sang social discussion.
3. Travel, place, movement, and outdoor life
Interesting city, long walk, faraway place, long journey, getting lost, working abroad, meals with friends, public places. Những đề này thường tưởng dễ nhưng rất dễ rơi vào kể đơn điệu. Học viên cần được hướng dẫn chuyển từ “where + when + who” sang experience quality, tức là nói thêm về atmosphere, purpose, challenge, emotional tone, and what was learned from the experience. Đó là điểm tạo khác biệt giữa câu trả lời kể lại sự việc và câu trả lời có chiều sâu band 7+.
4. Rules, planning, time, patience, and personal organization
Good at planning, being late, waiting for something special, disliked rule, time management, future planning. Đây là một cụm lặp đáng kể. Nó yêu cầu learners có sẵn language for discipline, routine, efficiency, punctuality, responsibility, flexibility, long-term planning, short-term priorities, delayed gratification. Về Part 3, nhóm này thường kéo sang các câu hỏi về parenting, schools, government policy, and social expectations.
5. Consumer life, shopping, money, and service
Good service in a shop, new shop in town, expensive purchase, advertisements, price and quality, large stores versus small stores. Cluster này cần lexical resource xoay quanh customer service, staff attitude, value for money, consumer choice, convenience, branding, shopping habits, impulsive spending, financial planning. Đây cũng là nhóm đề rất thuận lợi để luyện cách nêu opinion có cân nhắc, vì Part 3 thường yêu cầu so sánh chứ không chỉ nêu sở thích cá nhân.
